SNMP Query for non-indexed data (under Data Input Methods)

Post by muniramb »

Hi,
I figure SNMP Query (under Data Input Method) is the way to go to add multiple data sources to one RRD file. But how do i enter the SNMP OID for individual data sources? When i create a Data Template using a Data Input Method (SNMP Query), the custom data input does not have OID as input. Do i need to add this in my input field, and create an output field for the value returned for that OID? But how will Cacti know that 'this' is the OID? I would imagine that this should be a special type code, but there is no OID equivalent value for this field.

Thanks,
Munira

This is a NO-NO. Queries are for indexed data only.

I have the same question. I need to pull different SNMP OIDs from a device. Creating multiple Data Templates does not seem right to me. I know that the developers want to implement this feature but haven't gotten around to it yet (Data Templates --> Data Source Item --> Custom Data --> OID, though you can add multiple Data Source Items, you cannot have different OIDs for them).

So in Data Input Methods, if I were to use Input Type as SNMP, can I get multiple OIDs at the same time? Unfortunately, the documentation currently only has examples for Script/Command. I would be happy to write up a wiki on this as Data Input Methods are the basic building blocks of Cacti. But to do that I would have to understand it first :)
