Sending SNMP trap/alarm from plugin

Hi,

How do we send Snmp trap/alarms from cacti plugin?
what are basic/required information for sending snmp traps/alarms in general?

The thold plugin does a great job with alerting. Once you have thold setup and configured, you can set up syslog to forward local syslog alerts to a remote server (that's what we do). Our remote server has a syslog adapter that processes all of the cacti alerts.

If you don't want to forward syslog messages but instead want to just send emails, you have that option too.
