CMD popup window in Windows XP
Hello. I have a major problem with running properly cacti under Windows XP SP3. Don;t send me to cacti FAQ or some others, because I'm fighting with this around two weeks - with no luck I tried to hide cacti window with some script I found here - didn`t work. I mean, script worked, but from some reason didn't hide cmd.php window, only php.exe. of course I`ve tried at the begining to run poller as other user (with Administrator priviliges), evertyhing worked just fine for few hours. Then I couldn`t run anything mesaage - "Access denied check it you have permissions to run this process" I couldn`t open Windows Event Log, Control Panel etc. Of course cacti has stopped draw the graphs. I read a lot about this problem on forums, but none of the solution I found didn`t work (including UPHClesan.exe). I've even installed some other program to run cacti job in it, not in windows scheduler task, but it didn`t help too. One error dissapeard but "access denied" still occur after few hours running cacti poller.php. I dont` know what is causing it, I can`t run cacti poller.php as another user, if I run, as logged one, annoying popup windows shows up (i have to run it in 1 minute interval) Any suggestions will be appreciated.

You ask for help, yet you refuse to read the FAQ, manual, or search since this is NOT a new issue.
Run the Cacti scheduled task with a different user account than what you log onto the workstation with.

Oh boy. Sorry. Maybe my english is so poor, or maybe you didn't even read what I wrote before. Then I repeat mysefl. I"VE TRIED IT ALREADY! It so "obsious" solution that I've scheduled this job on diffrent user account (created user had administrator privligies) before I've read FAQ for cacti. Unfortunately shitty Win XP keeps crashing after few hours since start the "job" Probably something is wrong with profiles switching, registry sharing and so on. I've tried to find cure for this - didn't help. That's why I'm lookiing some workaround, maybe there's a wey to run scheduled job on account that I usually work, without anoying popup window. On my Debian cacti works perfect, but gathers more data in 5 min interval. I need two or maybe three hosts to be monitored in 1 min interval, for this reason I keep fighting with this about two weeksBSOD2600 wrote:

Re: CMD popup window in Windows XP
Sounds like you have other issues which need to be fixed besides Cacti.Taisa wrote:Unfortunately shitty Win XP keeps crashing after few hours since start the "job"
If you want to blame XP, why not use a modern OS like Windows 2008 R2?
