Any with cactid and spine

Post by y-watanabe »

Hi!

I am considering to upgrade my cacti from 0.8.6i to 0.8.8a since we
had some performance issues with the old cacti.
In advance , I would like to ask for advice from any of the guys
in the forum whom had similar experience.

We had faced a problem that the graph were not showing in cacti.
The reason was that cacti was not updating the rrd files properly.
Furthermore, according to ps command, there was bunch of polling processes in pending status.

Then we checked the sar statistics and it showed that
user : over 60% , sys : around 20 %, IO : around 0%

which means that CPU had almost no room for the disk access.

From this data , I was wondering that whether cactid has
access with the OS API.

Cacti polls 4300 data sources for 610 hosts.

Will the load ease more in spine?

Thank you for reading. Any advice will be helpful!

Yu

086 is way old. We improved performance since then. So it should be better upgrading to latest. Don't forget to create backups of everything, nevertheless.
