Weather Map & Cisco ASA/PIX VPN (not working)

Post by werkz »

I've spent the past week configuring Cacti/Weather Map and it's gone really well. I just added Setarco's "Cisco ASA/PIX Statistics" script/templates which seem to be working fine in graph view from Cacti.

This morning I tried adding a VPN link to a new weather map and while the graph shows when I hover over the link, the link itself shows %0.00. I've tried troubleshooting this myself and I can't seem to figure it out. My guess is that Weather Map doesn't want to play nicely with these custom templates. All other links on the map are working properly and I'm only experiencing issues with VPN links.

Please let me know if you need any further info, I will be checking this thread often.

Thanks

Well I figured out the problem. The ASA script calls for RX/TX values when WeatherMap map is looking for "traffic_in" and "traffic_out". I've made some changes to the script and I'm having success, however there is still some work to do.

Once I figure this out, I'll post my config files here.

The cacti log would have told you that you had the wrong DS names. Weathermap allows you to specify different DS names in a TARGET string. You didn't really need to change the script...
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

Finding "WeatherMap" in the log isn't particularly easy, especially if WeatherMap kicks off during polling. I'm new to Cacti and WeatherMap, which I figured was assumed since I know my question wasn't a difficult one to begin with. At any rate, modifying the script worked great and honestly I'm not sure why the original author specified "RX/TX" in the first place when Cacti/WeatherMap source traffic_in/out.

Good to know about the TARGET source, I'll look in to that.

Hey Howie,

How do I specify two data sources names??

TARGET /var/lib/cacti/rra/sfo-net-asa01_tx_2573.rrd:RX:TX:-

That doesn't work for me...

However, if I specify:

TARGET /var/lib/cacti/rra/sfo-net-asa01_tx_2573.rrd:RX:-

That works, but just shows the RX on one side of the arrow...

I read in the documentation that the format should be "TARGET rrdfile.rrd:in_ds:out_ds"

Please help when you're free...

Thanks!

Oh nevermind! I figured it out! It's just that of the document...

TARGET rrdfile.rrd:in_ds:out_ds

Thanks Howie!
