Installing cacti plugins on Ubuntu server! NEED HELP!

Post by amit0520 »

Hello all

I just installed Cacti on my ubuntu server (sudo apt-get install cacti). I got all my devices to poll and show graphs without problem but I have no luck getting plugins installed. I only have the default Console and Graph tab.

My cacti directory is at /usr/share/cacti/

Can some one please provide with step by step instructions installing Cacti Plugins for Ubuntu Sever (10.04) ? I am very noob to both Linux and Cacti. Thanks much in advance!

So when you go under console and user management, select your user account, ensure you give your account FULL Permissions to manage Cacti, specifically if you have plug in architecture installed you'll see a check box for Plugin management. Select it and save then logout and log back in

Then do you see anything under the console tab Navigation that says Plugin Management?

if you do not see this, post a screen shot or two of what you do see.

I am assuming that the plugin architecture is installed however it may not be installed at all.

If you didn't patch cacti to use the PIA, you don't have the plugin architecture available yet. PIA only comes integrated with cacti version 0.8.8.

Instruction can be found here: http://docs.cacti.net/manual:087:1_installation.9_pia

Editted: replaced wrong url.

Ubuntu 12.04 comes installed with cacti 0.8.7i, the package without the Plugin architecture included. There is no separate download for .8.7i plugin architecture from the cacti website, the latest is 0.8.7h. http://www.cacti.net/downloads/pia/

So..... how do you patch a 0.8.7i to include plugins????
