Post by Frodoger »

Hello,

i want to draw in on graph:
Errors in and out
Discards in and out
Unicast in and out
NonUnicast in and out

So that we can see, one one graph what a specific Switch/ VPN) Port do.

Is these possible? Or did i have misinterpret the network basics ?

You'll have to write your own graph template for this. I would duplicate the template for Errors/Discards (you can do this on the same drop-down menu that lets you delete templates) and then start adding new Items to the template for each graph line you want to add (Unicast and non-unicast packets). Once you've created the graph template, add it to the host template so that you can easily add the graph to all new devices created with that template.

While you can add all that data to one graph, I'm not sure if it will be very useful for anything beyond the most current polling cycle. Mostly because for Unicast packets you will be graphing bits per second, which can very easily get into the millions, while errors and discards will probably only ever be in the thousands (over a 5 minute period). Since there is such a large difference in numbers, you'll never see the graph lines for errors and discards when there are problems. You'll only be able to read the "Current" and "Max" number in the legend.

thanx for your answer.

i have do this.
1. i have created a graph template.
2. then i have added these to an host template (windows 200/XP)
3. then i created an device.
4. i make graphes with these device and added
Create: Host MIB - Logged in Users
Create: Host MIB - Processes
Create: Interfaces mit Struktur
as Graph Templates / Graph Template Name
5. then i publish the graph with graph tree
6. Now i see that the graph is empty. But these is clear because there are no datasources from a specific port in these graph.
6. then under Graph Management i open the graph definition. I assign: the "Graph Item Fields", "Data Source [discards_in]" to a specific port like "vpn-01 - Errors - 192.168.253.3 - Et1/1 (In) (discards_in)"
"Data Source [discards_out]" to "vpn-01 - Errors - 192.168.253.3 - Et1/1 (In) (discards_out)"
"Data Source [errors_in]" to "vpn-01 - Errors - 192.168.253.3 - Et1/1 (In) (Errors_In)"
"Data Source [errors_Out]" to "vpn-01 - Errors - 192.168.253.3 - Et1/1 (In) (Errors_Out)"
"Data Source [nonunicast_in]" to "vpn-01 - Non-Unicast-Packets - 192.168.253.3 - Et1/1 (Nonunicast_in)"
"Data Source [nonunicast_out]" to "vpn-01 - Non-Unicast-Packets - 192.168.253.3 - Et1/1 (Nonunicast_out)"
"Data Source [traffic_in]" to "vpn-01 - Traffic - 192.168.253.3 - Et1/1 (Traffic_in)"
"Data Source [traffic_out]" to "vpn-01 - Traffic - 192.168.253.3 - Et1/1 (Traffic_out)"
"Data Source [unicacst_in]" to "vpn-01 - Unicast Packets - 192.168.253.3 - Et1/1 (Unicast_in)"
"Data Source [unicacst_out]" to "vpn-01 - Unicast Packets - 192.168.253.3 - Et1/1 (Unicast_out)"

but now i'm getting the same values for every line. In the graph template i have added a legend for all these vales like:

Traffic in Min: Now: Max:
Traffic out Min: Now: Max:
Errors Discards in Min: Now: Max:
Errors Discards out Min: Now: Max:
Errors Errors in Min: Now: Max:
Errors Errors out Min: Now: Max:
NonUnicast in Min: Now: Max:
NonUnicast out Min: Now: Max:
Unicast in Min: Now: Max:
Unicacst out Min: Now: Max:

In the graph template every graph item has an different data source like:
(traffic_in): Traffic in --> Interface - Traffic - (traffic_in)
(discards_in): Errors Discards in --> Interface Errors/Discards - (discards_in)

What is wrong so that i'm getting the same values in every line of the legend?
