Windows server 2008 and Cacti ports
Hallo
I have a windows server 2008. I add host to cacti, says UDP ping timed out, but i have in windows server firewall(public, private is off, only in domani level) exception port UDP 23 if i turn off windows firewall, UDP ping is success. What ports i must more open. Firewall logging says nothing much.
Don't want turn off all win firewalls.
Thank you
R.

Re: Windows server 2008 and Cacti ports
I didn't have to change anything on my firewall except to open port 80 for the web gui.
My default config of ICMP port 23 works fine.

if i change to ICMP ping, ping is successful, but host in device view stays down.

How long have you left it at down? On mine they will eventually come up but its not instant. I don't know the timeframe but sooner or later I notice that its up.

Were there any changes made to the firewall? other than what you have done with UDP?
I'm going to login and check my server real quick. It is all default though besides port 80.

Sorry, I was discussing how we are going to subnet across the different markets with IPv6.
So if you have ICMP on, your device shows down. Is this just ping or snmp?

ping and snmp yes. and still after a day with icmp, host still down, snmp response is fine, but if host is down, then there is no graphs:(
Im lack of ideas.

So you have Cacti set for both of these and they both show down?terat wrote:ping and snmp yes

i double checked gpo. In Fw policy i haven't enabled all icmp types in Standard profile(domain profile was ok). Now recognizes icmp ping and hosts are up. Case closed i think:)

Ahhh good call! I didn't even think about a GPO changing it.

For what it's worth I've often specified TCP 3389... It's the RDP port so you know that if it's responding the server is up. Also, it's probably not going to be firewalled, so you should be safe long term.

Hi there,
can you be more specific what needs to be set it Windows Server 2008 firewall? I have ICMPv4 set for inbound and outbound for All ICMP types but no success. Only when I turn off the FW it works
Thank you in advance for any info.
Re: Windows server 2008 and Cacti ports
Forget about the SNMP port? snmp community? allowed snmp hosts?
