Hi There
I'm running a rather small cacti installation here graphing about 20 devices.
The graphs are also exported to a local filesystem. The export takes around 45 seconds to complete and it seems that before the export, everything gets deleted.
Now during that time the exported graphs and all the html files are obviously not available, which is kind of annoying.
I was wondering if there's a problem with my installation or if this is a common thing?
Has anybody figured a way to get around this issue? I'm thinking some kind of http proxy / cache mechanism in between?
Here's my setup:
Export Method: Classic (local path)
Presentation Method: Tree Presentation
Tree Isolation: Single Tree
Effective Username: admin
Expand Tree Hosts: off
Export Timing: Classic
Cacti Version 0.8.7g running on RHEL5
ExportDate: 2012-04-03 11: 15: 51
ExportDuration: 46.0604
TotalGraphsExported: 698
Cheers

Re: Graph Export takes too long
You could have a cron based job which simply copies the exported files to the directory of your choice.
If the export mechanism deletes the files then the copy job won't copy anything, hence the original files are still available.
Once the export finishes, the copy job transfers all updated files to the new place.
No "Export based" downtime that way, just a 45 seconds delay in current graphs

Hey phalek
Thanks for your input, I haven't thought of that approach.
Very simple, works great!
