I am trying to get data from iDirect modems as thuo and CCNAJ did (thanks to both of you for your hard work)
I recuperated the files that thuo posted and i am trying to use them but i encounter some difficulties..
I would really apreciate some help. Can someone contact me or describe the steps on how to use these xml files?

Hi Guys
can some one please help me.
what is the correct formula to get you current bandwidth use?
when i do an snmp get, i only get one number that increases.
ex.
i will do an snmp get on tx bandwith and get 20876534
then the next snmp get is 20878675
it is just increasing and not giving me the current bandwith, i know with snmp on a nic, you must do a formula to get bandwith usage.
Really appreciate your help.

There's a default Cacti traffic template that includes this calculation by default. You may use that as a template

(COUNTER(last) - COUNTER(first)) * AVG(traffic)
is the formulae.
COUNTER(last) is the value of the traffic counter at last timestamp of graphed interval
COUNTER(first) is the value of the traffic counter at first timestamp of graphed interval
AVG(traffic) is the traffic average over that very time
see e.g. http://www.vandenbogaerdt.nl for a full discussion

Hi Galdalf,
Thanks for your reply.
I already run snmpwalk pointing to the NMS to get the OID.
#snmpwalk -c public -v 1 -On x.x.x.x IDIRECT-REMOTE-MIB::ipstatsTable
Basically what I want to monitor is bandwidth (tx/rx). I have Cacti 0.8.7i running and I have downloaded the files that thuo posted and import into Cacti.
My questions is what's the next steps to follow to create each vsat remote sites on Cacti? To not have many posts and help all community if possible why you don't create any step by step article?
Thanks,
Pablo

Please see 1st link of my sig. There are lots of walkthroughs. Additional help can be found in the HowTo forum.pablomz wrote:To not have many posts and help all community if possible why you don't create any step by step article?
Generally speaking:
- in case a host template has been publsihed, associate that with your host and create the graphs
- in case a graph template has been published, add that to the list of associated graph templates to the host and create the graph
- in case a Data Query has been published, add that to the list of associated Data Queries and create the graph(s)
That's basic Cacti processing and, as said, explained by the Cacti Documentation

Appreciated. You may start creating a HowTo in that very section of the forums; that's how I started some years agopablomz wrote:... then I will publish any HowTo with step by step to allow all/newbie the procedure and not spend much time.
