Thold 0.4.9-3, cacti 0.8.7i, PIA 3.1 issues

Post by xenon »

I've setup a clean install of cacti 0.8.7i with pia 3.1 for testing purposes.
I've downloaded the following plugins from http://docs.cacti.net/plugins:
plugin:settings-v0.71-1.tgz
plugin:thold-v0.4.9-3.tgz
plugin:realtime-v0.5-2.tgz

Setup and installation of plugins went smooth but it seems I've ran into several issues with thold.
I'm monitoring interface status on a cisco switch (1 up, 2 down) and created a baseline deviation threshold with the following params:
Re-alert Cycle: Never
Time range: 1 Day
BD UP: 25
BD DOWN: 25
Trigger Count: 1
Alert list: Admin (contains only 1 email address)

When I shutdown a port on the switch the threshold triggers an alert and an email is correctly sent. Then come the issues:
1. Although re-alerting is set to Never, after 5 minutes pass I still receive an Alert that the value is still above the calculated threshold. (Workaround: setting the re-alerting cycle to 1 Month)
2. When I bring the port up again there is no e-mail sent to notify me that the value restored to normal. (Couldn't find any workaround for this one.)

I'll be glad to provide any details necessary to fix those issues :) Thanks!

for the realert issue see if the thold table in MySQL shows a 0 in the column "repeat_alert"

for the missing normal email: was the threshold in breach state (not warning) long enough to trigger an email and a breach status on the webpage?
