Been using Cacti for close to a year now with no issues. Running 2008 R2 with a bog standard install (using the installer package from here).
Now I'm looking to do some WMI queries, so need perl. Which package do people normally recommend? ActivePerl seems to be pretty commonly mentioned.
Cheers.
Which Perl software to use?

Perl is NOT required for WMI.
I'd highly recommend either PowerShell or VBScript -- both natively come with Windows and do WMI.
