CactiEZ v0.7 beta

Post by cigamit »

I am currently looking for a few people to beta test the newest CactiEZ CD.

To apply:
Please send me an email to cactiez-beta at cactiusers.org
Please list a bit of information about the types of machines you will be able to test it against. (mostly looking for OS versions)

A few Features:
-------------
Built off of CentOS 6.1
RPMS of latest Cacti/PA + RPMS for each plugin so they can be updated separately
New setup plugin, so you can select plugins, templates, etc... to install from the start.
Date/Time + Timezone can be set from the setup plugin, and will be changed on the server upon first poll.
New Secure Password plugin so you can require complex passwords for local users
New "look" for Cacti
A bit more security baked in from the get go
-------------
Also, I am looking for recommendations for optional templates to install. I have a fairly large number installed so far, and have been through the forums and packaged the most interesting ones, but let me know if there is any others you would like.

One thing to note, I am particularly looking for people to test out Flowview to ensure it is working properly, as I don't believe the new flow-tools packages are working for me and may have to be changed out.

This beta is not to be used as a production server, there will be no upgrade path from this beta to the official release. There are most likely multiple things broken and not working.

Let me know if I can help out...

Professional level i'm a network engineer.
Most important plugins for me are: 'manage', weathermaps, syslog and configmanager.

Personally i'm really interested in 'home automation'.
For the moment, i'm trying to put my complete home network, home automation and power usuage into graphs...
Cacti: 0.8.7i PIA on Ubuntu (linuxmce) with NET-SNMP 5.4.1 / RRDTool 1.2.x
Plugins: Manage062, Syslog122, Mactrack29, Settings071, Weathermap097a, Quicktree02, Thold049, Configmanager0826, Aggregate070, Realtime043, Nettools015
Private use: 24 hosts (and trying to integrate it into linuxmce)
Professional use 1635 nodes with 3616 graphs (backup / syslog / weathermaps...)

I have machines I can test with no problem, good mix of Linux, Windows, Cisco Switches, F5's and more. Currently running two Older CactiEZ servers.

Thx!

We've just ordered a new Dell R710 for Cacti (with the H700 controller and Intel NICs).

It should be here next Wednesday and I'd love to try the new beta on it.
