Syslog 1.22 on Cacti Version: 0.8.7h, Plugin Architecture Version: 3.0.
I have started pointing my VMware hosts to syslog in Cacti. The host showed up in syslog, however no syslog messages show up... Also, simultaneously, something called "Section" showed up with a single syslog message:
"VMware ESX, host.domain.local Vpxa: id=5132, version=5.0.0, build=build-515841, option=Release"
I thought I would see more than that...
No other syslog messages have appeared.
I have read up on how to configure ESXi 5 for sending syslog to a host.
Am I missing something here?
TIA!

Re: Syslog from VMware ESXi 5 hosts
Ok, so I tried it with the VMWare Syslog Collector on the VCenter server. Can see the logs, which contain the syslog data. I also discovered that the logging level is under advanced\config in the configuration section for each host. The logging level is currently set to verbose(firehose).
So I wonder why Syslog in Cacti gets barely any syslog data, while the Syslog Collector on the Vcenter server gets all the data.
I have one host going to Cacti and the others to the VCenter server.
