Read value out of database

Post by brononius »

Hey,

Can i read (and graph/manage) a value directly from a database?

I'm trying to combine cacti and linuxmce.
Linuxmce is handling my whole home automation system (lighting, power outlets...). So it would be great if i can monitor all these things with cacti. I'm thinking about lights that are on/off, power outlet... It would be great if we could place this in a graph, through the plugins manage/weathermaps...
Since all these values are stored in the database of linuxmce, i was thinking of extracting them with cacti(templates)...
Cacti: 0.8.7i PIA on Ubuntu (linuxmce) with NET-SNMP 5.4.1 / RRDTool 1.2.x
Plugins: Manage062, Syslog122, Mactrack29, Settings071, Weathermap097a, Quicktree02, Thold049, Configmanager0826, Aggregate070, Realtime043, Nettools015
Private use: 24 hosts (and trying to integrate it into linuxmce)
Professional use 1635 nodes with 3616 graphs (backup / syslog / weathermaps...)

Sure.

You'll need to create a script to connect to the database, extract the data, and then feed it back to Cacti. The documentation site has samples.
