I just spent a chunk of time trying to figure out why files weren't being archived, and nothing was appearing in the log. It turns out that the RRDClean UI will all show up, and apparently run, even when the plugin is disabled!
This is PIA2.4 or an older release?
Reinhard
It's all in my sig, but Cacti 0.8.7d and PIA 2.4 (it can't be any other version with 'd', can it?)
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

Limit of 600 RRD's found via RRD Clean?

Post by jrwagz »

I have just installed RRD Clean v0.38 on my cacti v0.8.7e and when I search my rrd files it only returns a maximum of 600 files, when I know that there are well over 2000 RRDs being processed, let alone the old ones I want to clean out!

Is this a known limitation? Is there anyway I can increase it?

RRDClean will search only for spare files. So in general, it will not return as many files as you have in your system.

So does that mean any file that is found by the RRD Cleaner is not currently being updated by the poller?

I just installed rrdclean, as I have somewhere along the lines of 3000 unused rrds.

When I scan, it comes back with 3,291 records. However, when sorted by date, I can see that 125 RRDs were marked as not in use, yet the last access time was within the past 5 minutes:

Last Accessed time: 2010-08-27 20:30:19
Last Scan: 2010-08-27 20:34:10

Other then that, this plugin seems like it will help me out.

Is there anything special with those? Are those "externally updated"?

No, nothing special about them. The permissions are the same as all the other RRDs as well, and they are not externally updated.

I've got no idea. To examine, I need a db dump of your database and a list of files that are erraneously flagged as "obsolete"

Same problem here, rrdclean 0.41, PIA 3.0, cati&spine 0.8.7h. I know I have 5 rrds more:)
I have rrdclean 1.1 :), PIA 2.5, cacti&spine 0,8,7e just peachy on an old system which I want to upgrade.

This error is thrown when there's no such table present.
Please do a "rescan" and retry. Do those errors still persist?

I am trying to use RRDClean for the first time, and when running a delete, nothing happens. The screen appears to show that it worked, but when i 'rescan' the number jumps back up to what it was.

Otherwise cacti is running great. rrd clean v 0.41Any thoughts?

RRDCleaner puts all selected files into a queue which will be processed with the next poller run. This is necessary due to security issues.
(An Apache user should not have write permissions to application files). A click on "rescan" will drop the queue.

Sure enough! Sorry for the bonehead question. That could use a note on the page or something!

Thanks
