[CLOSED] Problem: restoral mail & Time Based Treshld

Post by uhtred »

Hi,

there seems to be a bug with restoral mails and time based thresholds
My settings:
Trigger = 10min.
Time Period = 10min.
The Problem:
if a value result in an alert trigger and restore before 10 min. is over, I get restoral mails although i haven't get an alert mail.
This is confusing.
So an restoral mail shouldn't be send, if the system haven't send an alert or warning mail before.

This sounds like a corner case. It almost looks like your should be using Hi/Low as you are essentially saying that the item must be in breach for 10 out of 10 minutes, is that the case. Post a screen show of your threshold and threshold log.

moin moin,

i did change 2 lines in sourcecode of thold_functions.php:
1819:

Code: Select all

if ($alertstat != 0 && $warning_failures < $warning_trigger && $item['restored_alert'] != 'on') {
to

Code: Select all

 if ($alertstat != 0 && $warning_failures == $warning_trigger-1 && $item['restored_alert'] != 'on') {
and 1845:

Code: Select all

} elseif ($alertstat != 0 && $failures < $trigger && $item['restored_alert'] != 'on') {
to

Code: Select all

} elseif ($alertstat != 0 && $failures == $trigger-1 && $item['restored_alert'] != 'on') {
at first sight, everything (restoring) is working fine and how i need.

Update: doesn't work :-(

I'm wondering why you did set the warning and alert thresholds to the exact same value ...

there exists only 2 values -> 1(ok) & 2(nok)

sure, but then the program doesn't really know what to do. Is it a warning, is it an alert ?

You should set the warning levels different than the alert ones.

1.5 as the warning level would do just fine.
