graphs missing text
Hello,
I just installed cacti on a windows system (cacti 0.8.7h, rrdtool 1.2.30, php 5.3.8 thread safe, mysql 5.5.17, apache 2.2.21, and net-snmp 5.6.1.1). Everything is working correctly, except that random graphs are missing text. Refreshing the page fixes some graphs, but then other graphs lose text. I feel like I'm playing a game of refresh roulette.
I verified that the RRD Font path is correct, and even tried using 3 different fonts with no success.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I find this especially frustrating since I have another cacti system (at a different site) running on linux that does not suffer from this affliction. Plus, all of the tools on the linux cacti system are older versions.
Thank you.

Would you please post a picture of what you mean.

I attached two photos. The first photo is what appears when I click on the graph tab at the top of the page. The second photo is what happens when I refresh the page.
Also, I downloaded rrdtool from the rrdtool website. I also tried different versions of the rrdtool, but to no avail.

Re: graphs missing text
hmm, yea that is a bit odd a few graphs are lacking text.
Try rrdtool-1.2.30-bin-w32.zip from http://www.gknw.net/mirror/rrdtool/

Re: graphs missing text
Unfortunately, that version did not resolve the problem. Nor did versions 1.2.23, or 1.2.15.
Re: graphs missing text
Bummer.
I'm wondering if its an issue related to php 5.3, as I haven't seen this problem in quite a while. Last time I saw this problem was with php 4 and the 'solution' was to replace php4ts.dll with an older version (obviously an unsupported hack; dont do this with your current version).
Try the non-threadsafe version of php 5.3.8.
If that doesn't fix it, try php 5.2.17 (note: their installer is broken for apache in this version so you'll have to manually fix http.conf).

Re: graphs missing text
Yeah, I found the forum post talking about that php4 hack.
Unfrotunately, due to time constraints, I refomatted the system in linux, and got cacti up and running that way.
I do thank you for the suggestions, and assistance. It's just unfortunate that I didn't have the proper amount of time to resolve the problem.

That's draconian. Hopefully, you were able to retain your configuration...

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

Re: graphs missing text
This was a fresh cacti install, so there was no data to lose or migrate.
At the time, I wanted to set it up in Windows since (1) I never did it before, and (2) I needed a quick setup, and didn't feel like formatting the machine.
Other than a minor graphing error, the setup on linux was very smooth.

Re: graphs missing text
My brother works for a 'very large' hosting company with over 30 data centers globally. When I asked him what web OS' they ran in those data centers, he replied "oh about 99%". "Of what I replied". He responded "Do you really need to ask?" After that I smiled. There were subsequent conversations on the topic. Unfortunately, I can't share any more than this other to say that the numbers don't lie, Linux rules the web space.

Re: graphs missing text
Hi Rob, seems we have the same issue. I shouldn't start a new thread if I saw your posting.
Re: graphs missing text
Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I wasn't able to resolve this odd issue. I'm very intrigued to see if you are able to solve the problem, and what conclusions you come up with.
