problem with cacti poller configuration

Post by chr.pinedo »

Hello all,

to get some graphics at 1 minute i have configured the poller interval and the cron interval to 1 minute. Previously I have configured the crontab of the cactiuser to 1 minute. And finally, I have rebuilt the poller cache.

I use "spine" spoller with the following configuration:

Maximum Concurrent Poller Processes: 1
Balance Process Load: yes
Maximum Threads per Process: 15
Number of PHP Script Servers: 5
Script and Script Server Timeout Value: 25
The Maximum SNMP OID's Per SNMP Get Request: 10

Since I have configured poller and cron interval to 1 minute I have the following errors in the cacti log file:

10/24/2011 04:29:00 PM - SPINE: Poller[0] ERROR: Spine Timed Out While Processing Hosts Internal
10/24/2011 04:28:59 PM - SYSTEM STATS: Time:58.7874 Method:spine Processes:1 Threads:15 Hosts:122 HostsPerProcess:122 DataSources:381 RRDsProcessed:191

10/24/2011 04:26:59 PM - POLLER: Poller[0] Maximum runtime of 58 seconds exceeded. Exiting.

I don't know what is happening.... What can I do???? Thanks,

Christian

Go back to the the 'g' version of the spine poller for now.

Thank you for the answer. Cacti works fine with the "g" version of spine and cron/poller interval at 1 minute.

It will require a cacti version upgrade. You can grab SVN if you want to use it. It's done. But again have to release both Cacti and that release to have complete features.

I just completed the upgrade from 0.8.7g to 0.8.7h and PIA 3.0
Initially I did not upgrade spine, and things seemed for the most part to be humming along satisfactorily, but I got a bee in my bonnet and decided to install the new h version of spine.
I downloaded, configured, and built cacti-spine-0.8.7h.tar.gz
However, it doesn't seem to work. I just get messages that it has exceeded its timeout period of 58 seconds, and none of the rrd files or graphs are getting updated.
Am I missing something or does the new 0.8.7h spine just not work yet?
Thanks.

You have to use the SVN version of spine until the "i" release is done.
