Bug in cacti or windows7?

Post by LeonM »

I have inserted today an mp3 player in a windows 7 computer, and later when i look in the cacti i have see that the graph of that computer have gone wild (only in the plug in period and after plug out all things have turned normal). All the graphical representations of the space of the partitions and the virtual memory and physical memory have this problem.

I think that in some mode the oid is changing when you add a new device. or some problem in the snmp windows 2000 cacti scripts

p.s. i mush specify that i have an ubuntu10.04 as a server and the cacti is Version 0.8.7e

1) you're several cacti releases behind. upgrade.
2) post graphs / logs of what you're talking about.
3) tried clicking the green circle next to 'SNMP - Get Mounted Partitions' ?

There appears to be a regression in the H version associated with Reindex. I have asked that a bug be created today and assigned to a dev.

If not using H, you will not see this problem. It's only affecting Windows servers. Though.

@BSOD2600:

1. it's the latest version from the Ubuntu repository (the worst thing you get using apt-get)
2. i attached a print screen of one graph
3. where is that?

@TheWitness:

i have an ubuntu server instead :(, with a windows 7 client

For you, and the team behind, who develop the cacti project, what are the steps to put a new version in the repository of ubuntu? It would be so much more simply to just uploaded in the ftp and up you go, and all the ubuntu servers have the latest version, more secure and more stable

We do not provide the packages for any distro. It's their choice how and when to enter which code

You should attempt to compel the Debian package maintainer, Sean Finney, to adopt PIA. The 0.8.7 branch is pretty stable now.

He's not done it as the Cacti Group has not adopted it in the base package. As Cacti developers, we don't agree on everything. Often times we compromise, and then drink beer or cider when we have the opportunity to meet. This is one case, where we are not unanimous, and as a result, that put's more work on Sean.
