automatic login

Post by SJBriGuy »

Hi,

We're newbies to Cacti. Need some help trying to setup an automatic login using a URL string. Found threads that talked about guest access logins, but we need account access logins, and we need them to be automatic because we're loading them from within a Control Panel section of our website.

This format was the best we could come up with, but it just goes to login screen:

http://serverIP/graph_view.php?login_us ... rd=letmein

Can anyone shed some light as to what we are doing wrong? We're running Cacti version 0.8.7c.

Thanks!

Cacti does not support automatic as it's a major security issue. However, it does provide a 'guest' account that if you point your browser to 'graph_view.php' you will be granted restricted access.

Maybe I wasn't clear. When I am referring to "automatic login" I mean that we are using Lasso to submit a valid username and password to log into cacti for the customer, who has already logged in to our Control Panel, so we can display their graphs in real time. I don't see how this is a security risk.

The usual way of doing this with Lasso is not working, so I'm thinking that either Cacti is outright blocking this type of submission somehow, or there's something else behind the scenes, like a javascript that needs to be run when the submission occurs. Does anyone know about this, or a specific reason why this isn't working?

Alternatively, is there a known and tested way of accomplishing this with php or similar? The previous suggestion of using an export script won't work because we want to display the graphs in real time without extraordinary measures.

Thanks!

The Guest Account is the way to go then. You can use call 'graph_image.php' directly.
