I've setup SNMPv3 on my switches/routers with AES256. Is there any way to get Cacti 0.8.7g to work with it? The only option I have is 'AES', not 'AES 256'.
Server:
Windows Server 2003, 4GB RAM, AthlonX2
Latest Cacti Windows Installer
Also, is there a graph variable to pull the description off of the interface (i.e. Switch(config-if)# desc This port leads to hell!")?
SNMPv3 with AES256?

It should work, assuming you have the net-snmp binaries installed and configured in cacti. you using cmd.php or spine poller?
Yes, you can add the interface description to the current template. Read through http://docs.cacti.net/manual:087:3a_adv ... data_query for hints. it'll require you adding the field to the xml file, data input method, and graph template. all relatively easy.

Re: SNMPv3 with AES256?
AES256 is not a part of the SNMPv3 specification. Unless there has been a recent RFC, it's a hack. Next, don't use php-snmp if you are using AES. Finally, don't use Windows if you want high performance SNMPv3 using the net-snmp binaries.

Another interesting article.

I guess that will eventually force a spine upgrade.
