Also in 0.8.7.b I have some device in unknown state.
This is very strange because are the same device type and same configuration but two of them are always in unknown state.

This is the status if no graph has yet been created. Please follow 2nd link of my sig for more debugging hints

We just added a device to our cacti instance and now have this issue as well. I have tried tcp/udp ping and snmp availability methods, as well as both snmp v1 and v2 with no luck getting it to change the status of the device (a cisco 6500). The associated data queries show up fine. I can create graphs but it doesn't change the status of the device, and the graphs do not update. We have tried restarting the snmp process on the device, then deleting the device in cacti, and readding it with no luck.

gandalf, I followed the link in your sig, but there isn't much info in there about running spine on the cli.

would anyone have any ideas on this??

There's not much to it. And this should be there:

Code: Select all

spine --verbosity=5 <id> <id>
runs a debug spine against the host with id=<id>

I have the same issue.

Version 0.8.7g

To get around this issue, I do the following. (Lets assume server name is Blah )

Devices -> Add

Description,Hostname Blah.
Host Template -> None
Create
Devices -> Blah -> Host Template ( Memcached Server ___ or whatever ) -> Save
[Confirm Associated graph Templates are present]
New Graphs -> Blah (( Now they should be listed here, check all of them on right ) -> Create
Devices [ Graphs should show 6 __ or however many you added, Status should show Up __ Assuming host is up ]

I don't know why it does this, there is a bug with the device creation script somewhere. It does this to me after successfully creating 6-7 devices. Sometimes I can delete the device and re-add it just fine. Not saying this is bad software by any means; I think it is awesome as hell. Just pointing out how to work around the current bug.

Please make sure:
- "Availability/Reachability Options" in device settings
- "Host Availability Settings" in Settings->Poller
