I've followed the syslog installation instructions, and configured to use my existing cacti mysql db
Using phpMyAdmin I can clearly see that the syslog_incoming table is filling up with messages, but nothing is appearing in the syslog tab.
I am using an 'older' version of MySQL 5.0.77
any ideas where the disconnect might be?

no luck yet.
I just upgraded MySQL from 5.0.77 to 5.1.58
I uninstalled syslog and reinstalled it. I've repaired all tables. syslog_incoming is still receiving entries, but that's about it.

Re: syslog does not read syslog_incoming table
dang! same story ... "syslog_incoming" is populated rest of the tables empty ... ???
Re: syslog does not read syslog_incoming table
/usr/bin/php is hardcoded in some of the cacti plugin files so if you have two instances of php installed (e.g. One from distro an one from you own compilation) then things get messed up. Make sure you have only a single php and if necessary delete distro version and make sym link to desired one.

Re: syslog does not read syslog_incoming table
as nebulous as it is ... it worked after I initialized the database on the syslog-host again from the remote cacti-machine ...
I used the same syslog.sql file as when I build the tables directly on the syslog-host and I got an error when I was promted to process the tables on the cacti-syslog-site (something like: ...cacti/site/plugins/syslog/plugins.php not found)
?? strange !!

Re: syslog does not read syslog_incoming table
There is a config.php file in the syslog plugin directory. That file must be setup before you attempt to run this plugin for the first time.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?
