Dear,
Is there any way to let CACTI read the description of interfaces over the CISCO routers. and whenever there is changes on the description over the interface it will be reflected in CACTI.

Re: Monitoring CISCO
Hello,
In my installation, i use this information in the graph template Interface - Traffic (bits/sec) :
|host_hostname| - Traffic - |query_ifName|
With the query_ifName, you will see the description of the interface on your Cisco equipment
When you do a modification, for see the new label, you should do a Reload Data Query on your equipments (in Device console - select your equipment and at the end of the page click on the green picture to do a Reload Data Query)
I hope i answer at your question

Re: Monitoring CISCO
After reloading data query, try "Reapply Suggested Names" in Graph Management.
Re: Monitoring CISCO
You'll want:
|host_description| - Traffic - |query_ifName| - |query_ifAlias|
ifAlias = description.
Will produce a result like:
hostname - Traffic - Gi0/0 - 100Mb to ISP
|host_description| - Traffic - |query_ifName| - |query_ifAlias|
ifAlias = description.
Will produce a result like:
hostname - Traffic - Gi0/0 - 100Mb to ISP
Re: Monitoring CISCO
Also don't forget to extended the character limit under Settings > Visual if you have some long descriptions. Will have to reapply the names after that too.
Re: Monitoring CISCO
