Hey,
Maybe a nice thing to have is a kind of warning (popup, red dot next to clock) when a device is down.
This way, you don't have to open a screen (all the time) to check the 'global' health...
Just during your normal working day, you're sure that a flag is raised somewhere on your screen in case of problems...

It seems Cacti Tray is developed by C#.

It might be able to build that on Linux by using Mono.
