Re: How to use WMI
1) there are plenty of existing scripts either on the script forum and/or repository which are vbscript/wmi.
2) develop your wmi script to split out the data you're interested in and then follow the generic cacti script howto (document site) to make it work with cacti.

Re: How to use WMI
Yes I did, I did not find "howto" for that.
All of the "howto"s are about PHP and linux.

Re: How to use WMI
Think the real question is, is there a template that can be imported so that I can "just do it"? Something like the Generic "Windows 2000/XP Host".
Without an "easy" WMI setup... Cacti isn't worth the free version of Zenoss http://www.zenoss.com/ that does the basics very well.
Not trying to sound snarky community, but I am not finding what the original post is looking for either.

Re: How to use WMI
That is because this is a community driven project. Others who have made WMI scripts (via vbscript or powershell) have not contributed it publicly. Additionally, WMI queries do not scale well for hundreds of servers, which is why they're not favored. If you're running only a Windows shop, then something like Microsoft SCOM is a better tool for data collection/alerting since it integrates with Windows better.animalmother wrote:Not trying to sound snarky community, but I am not finding what the original post is looking for either.
