Discover Plugin Templates

Post by OneZero »

Is there any documentation on how to correctly get discovery plugins to work? I have it installed, took some of my host templates, and added them into the discovery templates. Added the IP ranges in, which it finds them. But when you goto the discover tab, all my hosts show the snmp data, and they are up up, but they are "Not detected". I can manually add them, have to add the name in manually as well as choose which template to set it as. Am I missing something here, or is this all this plugin is supposed to do? It looks like there's more to it, but I'm not getting the results. Thanks

Finally, I made it work!!!!

Configure parameters: Cacti > misc > Discovery.

Try to run:

Code: Select all

 php findhosts.php -d
Discovery Polling is set to disabled.

Enabled it, every 4 weeks or what you want. ( cacti > misc > Discovery)

Run again, and disable, if you don't want it to be running all the time.

I hope it works for you!

Thanks for that info, but I have already done all that, minus the cli script. My discovery table is full of found hosts, but they are all "Not Detected", therefore not using any of my templates that are set. How do you get them to be detected?

Though I configured "Generic SNMP-enabled Host" as discovery templates (plugins/discovery/discover_template.php ) , my discovered items have no host template associated either...
