Status-Down

Post by goude »

Hello

I've set up a new WindowsXP machine on Cacti, the machine is pinging, cacti can ping it with no problems but the status is down.

Here are my settings for that machine:

Downed Device Detection: Ping
Ping Method: TCP Ping
Ping Port: 23
Ping Timeout Value: 1000
Ping Retry Count: 1

SNMP Version: Not in use

The only message I can see in the cacti log is:

SYSTEM STATS: Time:1.3062 Method:cmd.php Processes:1 Threads:N/A Hosts:7 HostsPerProcess:7 DataSources:7 RRDsProcessed:5

Does anyone know why the status of this particular computer is down while cacti can ping it?

Thank you

Try switching to icmp or udp pings.

Hi

Thanks for your reply

ICMP ping is successful but status still shows down, when I switch to UDP I get the error: UDP ping timed out.
I think cacti is more suitable for Linux machines than windows.

time to look in the cacti.log why cacti thinks your device(s) are down during polling.

I'm having the same problem with a Sonicwall box.

I've tried to switch to ping only (using TCP, UDP or ICMP), ping and SNMP, or just SNMP.
All three show me that is successfull.

Cacti log doesn't show any error.

Is there anyone with the same thing?
