It is looking for a directory called cacti/cacti-ftp-temp in the root of your cacti installation. Did you create the directory?

Hello,

I have <code>/usr/share/cacti/site/cacti/cacti-ftp-temp</code>
Is this right? Chmod is 0777 for cacti/cacti-ftp-temp

Is this unix or windows?
You might want try try full paths in both your export and local scratch directory fields...this way you know exactly where it's all going.

This is unix.

Code: Select all

06/10/2010 08:25:02 AM - EXPORT FATAL ERROR: Export path '/usr/share/cacti/site/cacti/cacti-ftp-temp' is within a system path '/usr'. Can not continue.
For cacti i have safe mode off in PHP.

How about trying a scratch directory outside of /usr/share like:
mkdir /tmp/cactiout
and point it to /tmp/cactiout

I wrote it anal. This is due to cacti not being responsible for wiping out a fs.

All:

I would be interested to know this as well, I get the same error. (xp, cacti 0.8.7g, php 5.2.14) Options seem to be set correctly FTP php mode, tree presentation, multiple tree, admin user, hourly at specified minutes ('05'), have tried the others. Dirs exist locally (export directory='/cacti/graphs/', local scratch directory='/cacti/ftpgraphs/' and remotely ('http://URL/~mystuff/cacti/graphs/' and 'http://URL/~mystuff/cacti/ftpgraphs/' (to see which gets populated).

No issue locally, files are created. Error is 'FTP remote directory '/cacti/graphs/' does not exist'.

I don't understand how a local and remote directory can be the same name and with 'use the full path' as suggested ways to do it correctly - 'c:\cacti\graphs' and 'http://URL/~mystuff/cacti/graphs/' can never 'be the same'.

What am I doing incorrectly? I really want ftp to work for me.

[SOLVED] - Re: Export graphs on FTP

Post by thebigf »

I continued to try various things today and hit on the right way to export to the web. Using the same path of '/public_html/cacti/ftpgraphs/' to satisfy using the correct web URL and creating a 'c:/public_html/cacti/ftpgraphs' directory for Cacti, it worked. Cool, online graphs available.

Cheers,

Jamie
