Sum data items

Post by James »

I have a couple of rras which store a number of players on various game servers which I run.

I'd like to generate a new graph which contains an aggregate of all players on all game servers. I could just set up a script to return all values and the total and store it in one rra, but this is inflexible because it means every time I add or remove a game server, I'd need to rebuild the rra and lose the historical data.

Searching the forums it's clear that it's easy to aggregate traffic data, so is there an easy way to set up a graph item to plot the sum value of multiple data sources? One way I thought of was to do a stack plot, but then I don't think I can get the overall total to place at the bottom of the graph.. or maybe I'm wrong.. Anyone?

Ok, literally 30 seconds after I made this post, I figured it out.. It seems I can set the data source to none, pick 'Total all data sources' as the CDEF function and it seems to work. I knew there had to be an easy way to do this..
