change poller/cron interval

Post by ntenzpunishment »

Hi there,

Due to a high load on my server I am forced to change my Poller Interval, and Cron Interval to run every 5 minutes instead of 1 minute.

Problem is that after the change some of my graphs did not update. I searched and think I found out that you need to change all Step from 60 to 300 in all the data sources. If thats the case - is there a script or a better way to do this besides manually?

After the change to 5 minutes in both crontab and poller I made sure to run Rebuild Poller Cache (as stated in the documentation)

Help anyone??

How about 'rrdtool tune' ?

EDIT: Sorry, rrdtune is for changing heartbeat..

So no one knows how to change the cron pool from 1 to 5 minutes with the graphs being empty?

Do you mind deleting all existing rrd files?
(like as this post -- http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?p=173265#p173265 )

There is a thread in HowTo section related to 1 min polling.
But in fact, rrdtool does not allow to change existing rrd files to match that. You will have to drop all old data and start with new rrd files
