cacti + ubuntu + snmp error

Post by kirini »

Hi
I am bit new with cacti.
I have use it little, but it was installed by other and devices were configured by others.
I installed cacti to Ubuntu 10.04 64bit server and seems to work fine.

problem is that when I tried to monitor one laptop(windows 7) I see red "SNMP error" text in top right device page.
laptop has SNMP running and community name defined.

I tried to read this http://docs.cacti.net/manual:087:4_help ... #debugging
and in this command snmpget -c very-secret -v 2c target-host .1.3.6.1.4.something
what should I use to replace "something"?

how to find out where problem is?

As a start, use

Code: Select all

snmpget -c <your secret> -v 2c <target-host> system

In this case, the snmp setup is still wrong,
Please find help at e.g. net-snmp-users mailinglist
