Hi all,
I'm trying to develop a dataquery to graph some things. Ok I've created my XML, imported and checked. This works correctly. Now I've (after graphs creation and so on...) setup an host and added this dataquery. But poller seems not running the query to retrieve data.
I'm trying to understand why. My data query is similar to Unix - Get Mounted Partitions and this is working. I've activated debug mode, but I'm not able to understand what I should find in the log file.
Just because query is linked to a 'virtual host' there's no snmp support, no device down detection and no host template, but afaik these should not prevent my query from running correctly.
Thanks for any hint
Ste

Re: Data query is not creating graphs
I've also an update. I've found that in the data source created for my graphs the section custom data is not correctly filledin ...
This probably prevent cacti from retrieving my data. But I do not understand why. I've double checked all without finding any error.
Thanks
Ste

I've double checked the manual but I've no answer yet.gandalf wrote:Please see the Data Query Chapter at 1st link of my sig as a recipe

All seems correct, but there's a missing association between graphs and query when I deploy a query script to a machine.
How can I debug it?
Thanks

When following the recipe step-by-step, you will check each and every setup. That's the best I can do from outside

Re: Data query is not creating graphs
I want to add to what the OP noticed.
I am on the same boat, having created an XML file from scratch to chart the speed of policies in Exinda network optimizers. When applied to the device, Cacti finds all 443 policies, and lets me choose which ones and create them. Then the charts never come, and the custom data section in the data source looks just like the OP's, with the Index type and output Type ID missing. I deleted everything and started from scratch, reading the manual instructions and applying every coma. No change.
So far a me-too post. My contribution is:
1) I checked in the <cacti>/rra folder and the rrd file is not being created. If I create it manually using the syntax from a data source debug, it is created, but never updated.
2) I looked in the poller cache and the polling data is not there. Rebuild the poller cache does not help.
3) This is a production Cacti server working well. Problems with user rights in folders - always a possibility in new installs - should not apply here, all other queries are OK.
I tried to read up on data sources to understand how they are populated when things go well. The idea of course is to try to infer what is broken. Did not find details in the manual.
If someone can point me to material to read up on data sources, I might be able to find out why mine (and the OP) are broken. This is a big deal and I want to give the time to fix this MF. I will of course offer the Exinda query to the community (once it is not broken).
