Problem with CaMM

Post by kwiatek515 »

Hello,
I have problem with CaMM version 1.6.7 on Cacti 0.8.7g (PA version 2.9).
All traps form network device are in unknown trap with information

\'iso.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.43.1.1.6.1.3.61 (unknown):1 iso.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.43.1.1.6.1.4.61 (unknown):3 iso.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.43.1.1.6.1.5.61 (unknown):4 iso.3.6.1.6.3.18.1.3.0 (unknown):192.168.0.5 iso.3.6.1.6.3.18.1.4.0 (unknown):public iso.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.4.3.0 (unknown):iso.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.43.2\'

What must I do?

Hi,

please provide the community with some more details for an optimal support.
There is maybe an error in the "snmpttconfs"? You have to define the traps in the "snmptt.conf" - pls. see the documentation at http://www.snmptt.org.
All other traps are "unknown" and will be shown under "Unknown Traps".

Try to put the Trapoid of the unknown trap in the snmptt.conf like this:

Code: Select all

EVENT event_name .1.3.6.1.4.x.x.x.x "category" severity
FORMAT $*
save the snmp.conf and restart the service/daemon.

ok.
these information are one thing, but the service/daemon is running and the traps are written to the database?
have you insert the trapoid from the unknown trap to the snmptt.conf?

have you installed all requirements for snmptt e.g. "Net-SNMP-Perl module".

Can you give us an overview of your Net-SNMP, SNMPTT configuration?

kind regards

Hello,
I have another problem:)
I try configure SNMP v 3 (AuthPriv).
On switch I enable SNMP v 3. On Cacti in graph I see everything, but on SNMP traps in CAmm I don;t see trap from this switch.

My snmptrapd.conf is:

disableAuthorization no
traphandle default /usr/sbin/snmptthandler

My snmpd.conf is:
createUser snmpuser MD5 "password" DES "password"
authUser log,execute,net snmpuser

When in console I write

snmptrapd -f -Le -d

I see traps from switch.
Where is error?

"SNMP v3" and "SNMP Trap" are not the same.

at the one side you have to configure the SNMP (e.g. v1, v2c or v3) on a device (like switch, server, firewall, ...) and than you can pull these devices with a management tool -like Cacti- every 5 minutes.

Devices with SNMP functionality pushes a "snmp trap" to a destination (e.g. cacti host) when there is everthing wrong (e.g. many errors in a very short time on a switch port or a defined event is logged).

is there a possability to send a "test trap" from the switch UI?
See also under "Unknown traps" . For a better troubleshotting you can enable a debug level "2" in the "snmptt.ini" and
than you can look at the log files and look at the traps.
