Swedish characters in 0.8.7e

I'm having difficulty displaying swedish national characters (åäöÅÄÖ) in Cacti.

Things are retrieved correctly by snmpwalk:

• TSAB-MIB::displayDescription.101000124 = STRING: 41531 - Hemmesta centrum (åäöÅÄÖ)

But when the graph appears, all the characters within parenthesis seem to have been replaced by blanks:

Rrdtool appears to be able to show characters correctly when invoked from the command-line:

A !verboose query" for this paricular item to the device looks as follows:

• + Found item [ifDescr='41531 - Hemmesta centrum ( )'] index: 101000124 [from value]

I'm using Cacti 0.8.7e on Ubuntu 10.04.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

I fear this is a victim of some strict escapeshellarg or the like.
Please tell me your system settings related to swedish language so I can reproduce

Gandalf, I'm not sure what you need in terms of "system settings", so I've attached a screen dump of the operating systems settings + output from the Cacti TechSupport page.

Noname, no I'm afraid the "Cerylliic" case your referring to doesn't help. RRDtool can display Swedish characters without problems. I've tried to follow the related issue "Cacti russian charset description to host", but could only find the first two "Code" changes (my code appears to be different); i implemented the first two, but that doesn't help either.
