Windows doesn't return Disk or CPU usage via SNMP

Post by junior »

Dear,

after following FAQ on the topic
Make sure all the service checkboxes are marked (they are not by default). Restart the SNMP service. Also try increasing the SNMP timeout and decreasing the Maximum OID's Per Get Request.
I still don't get Disk or CPU usage results via SNMP.
I'm trying to read the data from Windows Server 2008 R2 servers and after adding "SNMP - Get Processor Information" or "SNMP - Get Mounted Partitions" Data Queries to a Windows host the web browser never finishes the task.

Can you advise what to do (debugging, reconf. etc) to get a better response on "SNMP - Get Processor Information" or "SNMP - Get Mounted Partitions" Data Queries?

Operating System: Windows Server 2003 R2
Webserver: IIS 6.0
Cacti: 0.8.7b
Spine: (haven't yet identified)
MySQL: 5.0
PHP: 5.2.5.5
RRDTool (Cygwin or Win32 version): Cygwin 1005.25.0.0 (APIVersion: 0.156)
Net-SNMP: 5.4.1.
Cygwin (cygwin1.dll version): Cygwin 1005.25.0.0 (APIVersion: 0.156)
Plugin Architecture: 2.0

Cacti 0.8.7b?? g is the latest which I strongly suggest you upgrade. hundreds of bugs fixed since then.

As for troubleshooting, try http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11747

Thanks. :)
Will be doing some debugging first.
Otherwise I haven't been upgrading since install... yet :-?

I found some info on http://www.cacti.net/downloads/docs/html/upgrade.html but regarding that I'm first time upgarding an ancient version which is running on Windows any help in the direction of upgrade additional to the upgrade instructions found on that link would really be appreciated.
For instance:
- can I just apply the manual and perform equivalent Windows-commands?
- is there a manual for upgarding Windows based installations?
- can 0.8.7b be upgraded to 0.8.7g directly or should one upgrade to intermediate version(s)?
- should other things (php, mysql, ...) be upgraded prior to upgrading Cacti itself?

http://docs.cacti.net/manual:087:1_inst ... ding_cacti is more updated documentation. Yes, perform the windows equivalent commands for the upgrade -- it's really not a complicated procedure.

Yes, you can install 0.8.7g (dont forget patches!). It'll handle the database schema upgrades automatically. Sure, you could either continue to use the same php/mysql/etc versions or upgrade too; your choice.
