Direct access to the Monitor Page?

Post by stew.martin »

Hi guys, new to these forums not quite sure if this should belong elsewhere.

I have a question relating to the Monitor page of Cacti where a assortment of equipment is either green and active or flashing red for an issue.

I am building a internal secure support portal at my company using Joomla, a great feature for me would be a menu button which, when clicked would bring up the monitor page using the wrapper (without logging into cacti) which would then allow a quick overview to the current status of our enviroment. I would then want anything that is clicked to bring up the cacti login page. My other tech staff would have the login to access cacti but having the monitor page on instant access would be very benifical for a daily snapshot rather then staff having to login and tinker with cacti.

Any thoughts would be gratefully received.

Regards

Hi,

I didn't test or anything but you could try allowing the "guest" user to access the "monitor" plugin tab and nothing else, without being logged in one should be able to view the monitor tab.

I can't remember if clicking on a monitored host leads to this host graphs thus requiring an authentication.

Unfortunatly this doesn't seem to work, when hitting the monitor.php it defaults back to the login screen where you will need to enter the guest username/password.

Shame!

You probably forgot one or two things :

- You have to enable the guest account which is disabled by default, go to :
User Management (left menu) => select guest user => tick the "enabled" option & save

- you have to tell cacti which account is the actual "Guest" aka passwordless account, go to :
Settings (left menu)=> authentication (upper tab) => special Users (middle section) => Guest User (option) => choose "guest" & save

Logout, and point your browser to: http://A.B.C.D/cacti/plugins/monitor/monitor.php

Enjoy
