Didn't get a chance to copy/test this week, sorry. I will do my best to try it out by wednesday. Winter season is busy for me. :)

Hi,

Finally got a chance to test the SNMP v3 code using the CVS version of Cacti .. looks good! I used the ucd/net SNMP Host template for a new host and it was able to poll/graph it using SNMP v3 without issue.

Nice work! :)

The 86b to .87 upgrade script has some SQL syntax issues .. I had to hand patch that to get it to work properly.

Perldork,

Did you log the upgrade script errors? If so, please send along. Even if it's something like "this stupid table...".

Diff attached :). Some errors were plain old mis-spelling mistakes, others were simple quoting ..

PerlDork,

Thanks for the input. I thought those inserts were wrong, just was trying to keep the placeholders there till I had time to address. Again thanks. Changes in CVS.

It has been fun :), thank you. I'd like to contribute more to this project when I have time, help with bug fixing/QA etc.

No, there is currently not a patch for SNMPv3 in 0.8.6c.

Full support for SNMPv3 will be available in 0.8.7. Release date to be announced.

Not entirely correct. If you are using cmd.php and you are using the default auth and privacy protocols with the privacy passphrase being the same as the auth passphrase, SNMP v3 does indeed work in 0.8.6c.

Full implementation of SNMPv3, including cactid support, will occur in Cacti 0.8.7.

Perldork,

Cactid 0.8.7 is ready for SNMPv3 testing. The CVS currently posted is accurate. I think Ian is keeping the downloads folder accurate as well. The January 13th version should be up-to-date. Any chance you can test?

I'm salivating over here! Where can I get this?!!?!?! We soooo desire snmpv3 at my job! :)

I checked out the CVS version today and didn't have much luck. A couple misspellings in the cacti_snmp_get and cacti_snmp_walk. But I was willing to fix those if only I could see the poller.php work (and not hang).

What's the best way to check out CVS and play with it? Do I need to run any sort of bootstrapping?

Thanks,
bk
