Monitor Server 2008 R2
Hello,
I've set up Cacti to monitor Server 2008R2 servers.
I've first tried the server 2003/2008 template but without result (think I lack the cacti knowledge to setup a working device template)
Then tried the build in 2000/XP template, now I have result in graphs tree but without the graphic itself, there is only a broken link image.
Can someone please direct me to a howto for monitoring 2008R2 servers? (or how to build a device template with the templates)
Info: installation of the templates worked and I can select them in the device template setup. But i don't know which values and where to enter
Thanks for the help

Re: Monitor Server 2008 R2
Can you give us more info on what steps you have taken so far?
Cacti 0.8.8a on CentOS
Re: Monitor Server 2008 R2
sure:
Install info:
- ubuntu 10.10
- cacti install through apt-get
- install with apache2 & mysql
Windows server:
- install snmp service
- configured with public read settings, allow all pc's (closed lan network)
Cacti server:
- created new device with IP info, templates as described above and snmp2
- created new graphs (right above link in device creation)
- added all available monitors (all disk letters where displayed in this overview, so a connection to the windows server is possible)
Now in the device settings, both the servers are up (so the new template and the build in)
The build in displays the overview in graphs but without images

Try installing SNMP Informant on your system. Do a forum search on the posts here. You can grab SNMP Informant here:

Re: Monitor Server 2008 R2
1) SNMP Informant is not required for basic monitoring. however, it does add some useful counters.
2) Is your ubuntu install able to monitor other devices with no problems?

Re: Monitor Server 2008 R2
Yes it surely is, but i think it's à local error on the server.
Other servers and my Sonicwall have no problem at all.
So thaks for the support.
