upgrade to 8.7g

i followed the instructions.. made my db backup.. backedup the whole cacti db.. etc..copied my rrd's.. copied my scripts..etc
did the upgrade.. but lost almost everything.. even the PLUGIN management link..
all i did was download the zip file.. i did not upgrade anything else..what did i do wrong?

i restored to the old version and im running.. but i want the latest.

Post-upgrade, any errors in the cacti.log and/or technical support page?

Did you install PIA 2.9? it's the latest compatible with cacti 0.8.7g.
re-read the pia 2.9 install guide and make sure you modified the correct php file (config.php vs global.php).
