[solved] Using Windows Installer package

Post by hammond1 »

Windows Installer version V 1.95 (just downloaded last week)

OS: Windows 2008 Server R2
Web Server: Apache 2.2
Cacti: 0.8.7g
Spine: Not sure - no version info in any of the text files or in the file properties of spine.exe
MySql: 5.1
PHP: 5.2.14
RRDTool:1.2.3
Net-SNMP: 5.5-2
CygWin: cywin1.dll file not present

Post-install when trying to load the web page I see "Error

You have created a new database, but have not yet imported the 'cacti.sql' file. At the command line, execute the following to continue:

mysql -u cactiuser -p cacti < cacti.sql"

When I attempt to import the cacti.sql file using the above command (I have to put the full path to cacti.sql into the command for it to work despite having that path in the PATH statement in environmental variables) I see the following:

"ERROR 1050 (42S01) at line 5: Table 'cdef' already exists"

In searching the archives on this error I have tried all that was recommended (did an uninstall/reinstall; modified the my.ini file so strict mode is not present - commented out "sql-mode=" then stopped/restarted the MySql service) that I could figure out. i.e. there was one recommendation - do the same file permissions configurations for ISS, to Apache - that I couldn't figure out how to perform. There are only three users in Local Users and Groups - the administrator account, the guest account, and an "ISTech" account I believe our server guy put in there.

Any assistance is much appreciated!

I got our DB admins involved on this. I input a DROP TABLE table_name; ahead of each table as we notice the cdef is the first table in the cacti.sql. After we did this I was able to view the Cacti Installation Guide page via the http://x.x.x.x/cacti URL.

And...now I can't log in to the web gui after completing the final install steps via the web gui dialog. The post-install html states the Cacti username/pw is admin/cactipw and I have yet to change this password yet that combination does not work. For grins I did the DB username/password combinations but those did not work either. HELP! I am oh so close to populating my database!

Thanks,

Steve

Hmm, sounds like for some reason the installer failed to import the cacti.sql file. does the cacti installer log file show any details on this failure?

Also, users can edit their own posts ;)

I looked at the Apache2\htdocs\cacti\log\mysql_install_log.txt file and found this:

Windows service MySQL installed.
Service started successfully.
The security settings could not be applied to the database because the connection has failed with the following error.

Error Nr. 1045
Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

The cacti-installer.log should have more details on where it failed. Did you have mysql previously installed?
