Emails not sent Threshold!

Post by 256mxr »

Hi!

I am running cacti 0.87g with Plugin Arch 2.8 and installed plugins: thold v0.42 and settings 0.5.

I want to send an email alert when a threshold is triggered. Thing is this does not work. When I run Email Test it works. The threshold appers as triggered in the Thresholds Menu.

In Cacti Log this is what I get:

12/15/2010 03:00:05 PM - THOLD: Threshold Breached ID: 1 DataTemplate: SNMP - Generic OID Template DataSource: snmp_oid Type: High/Low Enabled: on Current: 216 High: 226 Low: 223 Trigger: 5 Minutes SentTo:

There is no SentTo address!!!

In Mail/DNS tab I have the settings:

Test Email: the destination address
Mail Services: PHP MAIL
SMTP Hostname; localhost
SMTP Port: 25
Primary DNS: IP Primary DNS

Can someone help to debug this???

Thanks

Did you set an address to send it to in the threshold?

Hello - I have been pulling my hair out trying to get Threshold emails to work.

I am running Centos 5.5 with cacti 0.87g with Plugin Arch 2.8 and installed plugins: thold v0.43 and settings 0.5. I can successfully send test emails. However, email threshold alerts do not work.

The strange thing is that if I leave both the 'notify accounts' email AND 'extra alert email' accounts boxes empty, the thresholds will trigger and the Cacti log file will post correct entries '01/07/2011 12:11:00 PM - THOLD: Threshold Breached ID.......'

However, when I enter a 'notify account' and/or extra alert email address, there is no entry in the Cacti log and alert and thresholds no longer trigger.

There is one other thing - I do get an email when a dead host comes back up, but not when it goes down.

Can someone help? Thanks in advance.

i make test , it a issue ,because when host go down
it send email whit host go up,and only receive emails whit go up , end never go down :)
i fix this in my post : http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=36235

Whit the emails for Thresholds
for each Thresholds you have to set the emails in the box whit Alert E-Mail,

for the moment i don't change the code , to accept emails configured in the setting
i make some test ,but i don't figure very well whit the settings for re-alerts
i don't make very much tests , but when thold set to Trigger i receive the email
also whit the graph

It no issue, the solution it is in your config
first step it to check
the test email work

under settings u find Mail / DNS , after make the configuration check if the
Send a Test Email
work

if this one work , check

under settings also u find Thresholds
where u have email options

if the settings don't look like this one try
latest thold from svn
or the one whit few extra options
from hear http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=36235

good luck

News for all with the same issue
0.8.7g
PIA 2.8
THOLD 0.4.3
I spent very much time to check, double check, compare between old box and new migration box.
Finally, i found out the problem is PHP EXTENTIONS.
So you must be install the list of php extentions as below will be fixed
With Centos, that's enough
php-cli php-snmp php-ldap php-gd php-pdo php-mcrypt php-common php-mysql php-mbstring
Thanks
