Cacti stopped working

Post by Dude »

I added only 3 timeouts in my my.cnf file... since then, cacti has stopped plotting all graphs... and the log is filled with 'A DB exec failed...'
the timeouts are:
interactive:20
wait:10
connection:10

plz help, I need these timeouts for my server, but also want cacti to work under these timeouts... how can I go about it...??

Is there a good reason you are setting those so low? I am going to guess that interactive_timeout is probably causing you the issue, but it may be a combination that and wait_timeout being so low.

You may be approaching it the wrong way. Lowering the connection timeouts may seem like the most logical way to go, but often it is a symptom of the issue, and not the issue itself.

I would start by increasing your settings back to ~120, then run mysqltuner, then follow its recommendations: http://blog.mysqltuner.com/

After that, you may have better insight into exactly what is causing the issue.

Here is another guide that I use for tuning:
