HI there
I am currently implementing a Cacti build in an enterprise environment with 2000+ devices.
I created my own host template with just a basic Unix-Ping Latency from the graph templates.
I then added all my devices using the add_device script which included my hoist template number - so far so good.
When i checked each device i found that the Associated Graph Templates status = 'Not being graphed'.
I figured out that i need to 'Create Graphs for this host' in order to actaully produce any graphs.
My question is - can this not be automated during my initial device import using the add-device script. I dont fancy performng the 'Create Graphs for this host' for 2000+ devices as it would take an age to complete.
Any help would be appreciated.
Tnanks

Re: Cacti Build - Multiple Devices
Sure. Use AUTOM8 plugin (installing Plugin Architecture is required as a prerequisite).

Gandalf - can you confirm if this plugin works with Cacti Version: 0.8.7g, Plugin Architecture Version: 2.8?
The manual only mentions previous Cacti versions d & e?
Thanks

Damn me. I should publish the new version. There is a v0.35beta6 or the like in the AUTOM8 forum that is know to work with latest cacti. Using PIA2.9 you may even avoid to run the plugin patches. That version is "quite" stable and removes some bugs (only to introduce new ones )

Re: Cacti Build - Multiple Devices
Thanks Gandalf - seems to be working ok in ver .g, havnt had time to test for bugs.
Tell me, when creating a new Graph Rule, it only provides the option to add a new 'Data Query' and not a 'Data Input'?
The reason i ask is that i need to add >2000 boxes each with a ping chart for latency - can this be achieved with Autom8 - am i looking in the wrong area?
Thanks

Re: Cacti Build - Multiple Devices
ALL simple Graph Templates (be it SNMP or Data Input Method based) are ALWAYS generated without any rule. That stems from the idea, that you won't add any Graph Template you don't want to see (why add it, then?). Again, saving some more clicks ...
