Running two differnt cacti versions at the same time

Post by wjm »

Would it be possible (or advisable) to run two different cacti versions on the same server?
I am running 0.8.7b and want to upgrade to 0.8.7g.
I am really customized and have lots of users (with high expectations).
Would it be possible to run both on the same server and work out the possible issues without downtime.
Maybe have mysql database 'cacti2', web page www/html2/ and usr/local/spine2/spine.

This way I could import the database and rra files, disable most of the devices and work out any issues.
When done, I could copy the 'rra' folder that has been updating with the process and not have any graph gaps.

Sure, I do this all the time. My laptop now runs about 5 different versions of cacti in parallel (with very few data).
