Upgrade from 0.8.7d to 0.8.7g?

Post by sleepy923 »

Is it possible to upgrade from 0.8.7d to 0.8.7g in one upgrade, or do I have to upgrade to 0.8.7e and 0.8.7f prior to upgrading to 0.8.7g?

Thanks.

Each release contains scripts to update from previous releases, so you can go from 0.8.7a to 0.8.7e, or 0.8.7d to 0.8.7g, etc.

Good to know; thanks. Is the same true for PIA 2.6, 2.8, etc.?

You will need to apply the PIA patches after you replaced the files.

I normally do
  • backup the database
  • make a backup of the rrd files
  • extract the latest cacti version to a new directory
  • Apply the PIA patches that apply for the new version
  • Copy over the config.php file to the new dir
  • Copy/Move over the rrd files from the old to the new dir
  • change the symbolic link to point to the new directory*
  • Run the update from the web-interface
*I normally only have a symbolic link to /var/www/html/cacti and the different version are e.g. /var/www/html/cacti-0.8.7g
