Reportit - how to create a total in/out report

Hi,
I've tried to make a report for Traffic measures. We need to control how many traffic flows on a specific interface in and out in a specific time (let's say one month) for billing.
In the cacti graphs, this information is available with the "total bandwidth" template.
How can I add this information to an Report? All I tried end up with wrong meassures.

May there is a documentation with more information than the "first introdutcion" paper.
