Any suggestions for developing a Plugin for (my) Cacti Book?

Hi,

The Cacti Book which I am currently writing contains 2 Chapters about the Plugin Architecture.

In those I want to describe how to build your own plugins based on an example plugin.

This Plugin should provide a usefull enhancement to Cacti, therefore I need your help.

Please post your ideas on such a plugin here. I will then evaluate if it can be included ( e.g. size of the implemention, complexity ... ) and let you Vote on the final plugin which I will include in the book.

Please just dump yur ideas here, do not care about the complexity, just dump ...

I was thinking about an Audit plugin, which checks the user logfile for failed logons and sends out alerts on a certain threshold. maybe with a small report.

Another one would be Device import/export functionality for the Web-Interface utilizing the CLI scripts to add the devices.

Yet another one could be adding a Backup/Restore funtion for backing up the database and all rrd files.


Any ideas are welcome.
