Syslog 1.05 install issue

Post by clayman2 »

When trying to install the plugin, I configure the config file for a seperate database, not the cacti database so I set $use_cacti_db = false; I import the syslog.sql script into my syslog database, then go under plugin management and try to install the plugin. I takes about a minute, then goes to a blank screen. It will create the syslog settings on the menu but I do not have access to the syslog tab to view the logs, and if I go back to plugin management, it is as if I never installed it.

If I set $use_cacti_db = true; everything works fine. I have followed all the steps but I am unsure why it will not work.

I just installed it into the cacti database as that works and the other method doesn't, plus I don't have a long time to wait for a responce.

But maybe I can get a responce on this, I keep getting this message in my mail:

PHP Notice: Object of class ADODB_mysql could not be converted to int in |Cacti Dir|plugins/syslog/function.php on line 128

What PIA version are you using?? I think that is the same problem I had and installing PIA 2.9 Beta 2 was the fix.

Also include the lib/database.php from the SVN (branches/0.8.7).

I got Cacti up and running on a test box, I install PIA 2.9beta2, and I still have the issue where I can not for the life of me install syslog in a seperate database form cacti, also I still get the ADODB_mysql error.

A side note, you should possibly include the $url_path variable in the config.php as it is never there and for new people coming into cacti really don't know about it ( I always forget about it, until I install a plugin)

The formatting is handled in main.css. If you have modified Cacti's main.css file, that where the problem is beginning...

I havent touched those files, I just add $url_path = "/" to the cacti config.php file and that issue goes away. However this is not my main problem.
My main problem is I can not get the syslog plugin to install in a seperate database from cacti and I keep receiving the error PHP Notice: Object of class ADODB_mysql could not be converted to int in /var/www/html/cacti/plugins/syslog/functions.php on line 128

Change that code to the following:

Code: Select all

    if (!is_resource($cnn)) {
        $cnn = $cnn_id;
    }
See if the issue goes away.

Might be better this way:

Code: Select all

    if (!$cnn) {
        $cnn = $cnn_id;
    }
Not too sure which is best.

Better use this:

Code: Select all

if (!is_object($cnn)) {
   $cnn = $cnn_id;
}

That seemed to do the trick just not sure why it fails to install if I try to use a different database, but no biggy
